TLILIC0001 Licence to Transport Dangerous Goods by Road

Including The Safe Load Program (SLP)

OVERVIEW
This course quips learners with the skills and knowledge required to obtain a Dangerous Goods (DG) driver license to transport dangerous goods by road including  Safe Load Program (SLP) mandatory requirement for anyone as a tanker driver in  fuel industry . 

The training focuses on compliance with regulatory requirements for the safe transport of dangerous goods, with SPL delivered on the last part of the first day. While successful completion of this course is a mandatory requirement for licensing, additional industry-specific training may be required to fully meet legislative obligations


The Safe Load Program (SLP) is a mandatory prerequisite for anyone wanting to enter the fuel industry as a tanker driver. This nationally recognised program ensures you understand the safety, compliance, and operational requirements before you can load fuel at a terminal.  


COURSE CONTENT
This course covers the knowledge and skills required to safely transport Dangerous Goods (DG) by road and meet licensing requirements, as well 


Learners will develop practical capability in:

  • Understanding roles & responsibilities
  • Dangerous Goods identification
  • Documentation & compliance
  • Safe planning & transport practices
  • Vehicle & load checks
  • Emergency procedures
  • Transfer of dangerous goods
  •  SLP load training and identification program modules 


DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

Face to face delivery

There are theory and practical training and assessment components to the course.


NATIONAL RECOGNITION

On successfully completing the training and assessment you will be issued: 

Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency:

  • TLILIC0001 Licence to transport dangerous goods by road

Statement of attendance for 

  • Completion of Safe Load Program (SLP)

NOTE: Students will be required to Complete an application; by providing your contact details and payment of $150.00 for your new ID card. 


DURATION AND LOCATION 2 Days –20 hours 


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • There are no pre-requisites for this course identified within the industry training package, however, to gain a Dangerous Goods Licence in SA, participants must be 18 years or older and hold current SA Drivers licence.

NOTE: Driver licence means a licence (including a probationary and a conditional licence but not including a provisional or learner's licence or permit) - From Dangerous substances (Dangerous Goods Transport) Regulations 2023 - Part 2 Interpretation/ Division 1 General/ Driver Licence.

  • Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) proficiency: Participants must demonstrate appropriate LLND skills to meet course and workplace requirements (assessment conducted prior to enrolment) and to complete a written hazard / risk assessment and record work outcomes.
  • Students must be dressed in their normal work clothes and be wearing steel capped boots
