Load Restraint

OVERVIEW
These combined units involve the skills and knowledge required to secure, load and unload a range of cargo types in accordance with procedures, regulations, and relevant standards within the transport and logistics industry. 

The course covers preparing and securing cargo/containers, loading and unloading safely, lashing and unlashing cargo, protecting cargo from weather and damage, and completing all required documentation. 

COURSE CONTENT
Learners will develop the ability to:

•  Select and use appropriate securing, handling and restraint equipment.
• Lash and unlash cargo safely. 
• Protect cargo from movement, damage and weather conditions. 
• Pack and unpack cargo in line with load plans and safety procedures. 
• Complete required load documentation accurately. 
• Follow safe work practices and organisational procedures. 

DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

Blended delivery (theory + practical application). 

Assessment may include written questioning, practical observation/demonstration, and completion of workplace-style tasks. 

A simulated or workplace environment reflecting real transport and logistics conditions is required for practical components. 

NATIONAL RECOGNITION

On successfully completing the training and assessment you will be issued a Statement of Attainment to issue you the unit of competency:

• TLID2004 – Load and Unload Goods/Cargo 
• TLIA1001 – Secure Cargo 

DURATION AND LOCATION  1 day (approximately 6 hours) Rolling intakes 

Delivered onsite or at Natwide Training Australia’s Parafield Training Centre – 65 Kittyhawk Lane, Parafield 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) proficiency: Participants must demonstrate appropriate LLND skills to meet course and workplace requirements (assessment conducted prior to enrolment).
• Students must be dressed in their normal work clothes and be wearing steel capped boots
